Note that the sand bar is now visible at Bennett Park on the
Pomperaug River as a result of low flow.

Read Report on Catastrophic Habitat Conditions (the Rushing Rivers Website) in the Pomperaug River Watershed. The below ACTOgrams were developed as part of the UMass MesoHABSIM "Instream Habitat" Report. The stars indicate the number of days below the corresponding flow rate, as of September 29, 2007. The red area shows flow durations that create catastrophic conditions for fish habitat. On a natural basis, these conditions should occur only once every ten years. Conditions in the Pomperaug River Watershed have been in the Catastrophic Range since the beginning of September 2007. Conditions are more severe in both tributaries of the Pomperaug River - the Nonnewaug and Weekeepeemee Rivers - than in the Pomperaug River itself.
