Watershed Distribution and Water Efficiency
In October 2011, PRWC invited town employees and volunteer municipal commissioners on to participate in a forum on the topic of Water Distribution and Water Efficiency (download program flyer). Several issues were covered including those related to water abundance, safe yields, water infrastructure, new technologies, preventative adaptations, and the changing landscape of policy in the context of ensuring safe, clean drinking water for our towns. The forum emphasized the important connections among water, energy, the environment, commerce, economics and jobs. Ultimately, energy efficiency, public health, and economic revitalization are impacted by how we manage and utilize water resources. |
Covering these complex topics were speakers:
Lori Mathieu
Public Health Services Manager - Drinking Water Section, Connecticut Department of Public Health
Mary Ann Dickinson
Executive Director, Alliance for Water Efficiency based in Chicago, IL |
This program was made possible through grant support from the Connecticut Community Foundation, and was part of PRWC’s “Municipal Outreach and Convocation in the Pomperaug and Naugatuck Watersheds.”
