Community Engagement Coordinator
The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is responsible for planning and implementing community engagement opportunities for the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition. The individual works in partnership with towns, neighborhoods, schools, and other community and youth-serving organizations to deliver activities that connect people with the Pomperaug River, its tributaries, and the surrounding watershed with the ultimate goal to protect and improve water quality and habitat.
An ideal candidate is a confident, enthusiastic person with direct experience in environmental conservation, public speaking, social media, and working with different demographics in the community. A passion for bringing people together, a commitment to following the science, and a love of the outdoors will help you find success in this position. A background in education, environmental science, and/or environmental studies is encouraged. First consideration will be given to applicants that apply by February 5, 2023. Event Coordinator - Woodbury Earth Day
PRWC is accepting applications for a contracted, temporary position to lead in the planning and execution of Woodbury Earth Day.
Woodbury Earth Day is presented by PRWC with support from a dedicated team of volunteers. Woodbury Earth Day is a celebration featuring earth-friendly activities, programs and demonstrations, vendors and exhibitors, and some of the best food trucks in Connecticut. The goal of the event is to provide opportunities that help protect and improve our environment and encourage people to adopt earth-friendly practices while also supporting the local community. The first annual Earth Day celebration in Woodbury was hosted 29 years ago by New Morning Market and the celebration grew each year to become the largest Earth Day celebration in Connecticut. The event welcomes upwards of 100 vendors and 6,000 visitors to Woodbury.

Dr. Marc J. Taylor Internship
PRWC is accepting applications from undergraduate and graduate students pursuing environmental careers for its Dr. Marc Taylor Internship position. This prestigious environmental student internship was established in 2013 in memory of PRWC’s cofounder, Dr. Taylor (1937-2012). In addition to stewarding environmental resources
at the local, state, and national level, Dr. Taylor was particularly eager to foster the same passion in those preparing to be the stewards of the future.
The Intern will serve as an ambassador of PRWC for the 2023 summer season. Projects will protect and enhance natural resources in the Pomperaug Watershed communities. Projects may include but are not limited to water quality sampling, culvert assessments, streamwalk surveys, river clean-ups, riparian habitat improvement, invasive species removal, erosion mitigation and more. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until March 1, 2023, or until the position is filled. Please see the 2023 ANNOUNCEMENT.

Youth Conservation Corps - Team Members
PRWC’s Youth Conservation Corps work together outdoors for six weeks during the summer on projects that protect and enhance natural resources in the Pomperaug Watershed communities. YCC projects may include but are not limited to water quality sampling, streamwalk surveys, river clean-ups, community outreach, riparian habitat improvement, invasive species removal, erosion mitigation, stormdrain marker installation, culvert assessments and more.
Crew members are selected through a competitive application process to work under a trained leadership team. Members must be willing to meet the mental and physical challenges of working in the outdoors by demonstrating maturity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic. A commitment to the environment and to their local communities is essential.
Members will serve as ambassadors of PRWC, whose mission is to ensure the availability of high quality water in the Pomperaug Watershed communities for future generations.
