About the Event
The Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition installed and maintains a rain garden at Community House Park in Southbury and a riparian buffer and river access at Cedarland Park in Southbury.
Rain gardens have numerous benefits, in addition to their aesthetic beauty, rain gardens provide areas with flood mitigation and prevent pollution from reaching reaching waterbodies. Volunteers are encouraged to help with spring weeding, deadheading and trimming.
Help the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition remove invasive plants in and along Spring Brook, which flows through Cedarland Park into the Pomperaug allowing room for the native plants to flourish, stabilizing the river bank and providing food and habitat for native species.
