Have you wondered about Connecticut’s mysterious volcanic past? Join Flanders and PRWC on one of two scheduled tours of O&G’s Southbury trap rock quarry for a field trip highlighting some fascinating geological facts and views of ancient volcanic rocks and minerals. O&G Industries has generously offered to open their quarry that day to Flanders field trip participants for a special geology program led by Dr. Thomas Fleming, Professor of Geology and the Chairperson of the Earth Science Department at Southern Connecticut State University. Appropriate for all ages, a fun and informative slide lecture will be followed by a guided tour of the quarry to identify ancient volcanic rocks and minerals.
