About the Event
On average Americans use 2000 gallons of water a day from the combination of water use in our homes, on our yards, and from our diets and other consumer choices. A simple and easy way to mitigate this use is by creating and installing a rain barrel. Join the PRWC to learn about rain barrels and other water conservation techniques and to construct your own take home barrel. A very limited number of barrels and conversion kits are available for $40. Registrants must pay in advance and be prepared to take their barrel home with them.
Please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled workshop time. All tools and materials will be provided.
The Rain Recycle Diverter Kit provided uses a flex-fit diverter design. The kit creates a closed system. The unique feature of the diverter is the back flush. When the barrel is full, the water backs into the downspout stopping more water from going into the drum so you do not need an over flow, you do not need to cut off the gutter, or worry about mosquitoes. Learn more about this kit here.
Pavilion Pod 2PM
Each pod ticket includes your own area for up to 4 people from the same household. Please bring $40 cash or check made out to Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition to cover the cost of the barrel and materials. Masks required.
