PRWC Presents to NYC Department of Environmental Conservation

Carol Haskins, PRWC Outreach Director shared outreach tools for connecting with homeowners with watershed management professionals from various NY organizations including Trees for Tribs, Catskills Stream Buffer Initiative, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and NYC Department of Environmental Conservation on February 22 at the Catskills Watershed Management Collaborative meeting.

Haskins presented on River Smart practices and tools. The River Smart initiative provides a Resource Kit for Homeowners targeted to empower individuals to improve our water environment as well as a Municipal Tool Kit & Guide to support our watershed towns in providing education and outreach on River Smart practices.

River Smart is led cooperatively by Housatonic Valley Association, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, Kent Land Trust, Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust, Rivers Alliance of Connecticut, and the Farmington River Watershed Association. The initiative was made possible through generous grant support from Connecticut Community Foundation, Ellen Knowles Harcourt Foundation, LUSH Cosmetics’ Charity Pot Program, Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments, the Merchants of New Preston Village, the City of Derby and Pitney Bowes.
