Matching Gift Challenge April 21-22!

Your gift to Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition during the Give Local online-giving campaign April 21-22 will do more than twice the good! A generous donor has pledged to match all donations to PRWC through Give Local up to $10,000. Please don’t let this generous matching opportunity float away. Give a gift of $10 or more to PRWC between 7 a.m. on April 21 and 7 p.m. on April 22. Your donation is essential in helping to preserve, protect, and restore the quality and quantity of our most valuable resource - water. Every dollar raised during the 36-hour online giving campaign will be stretched further by bonus funds and prizes donated by Connecticut Community Foundation and generous sponsors.

At a time when so many things feel different, some things never change. PRWC remains committed to working on behalf of you and the people you care about to protect and restore the rivers and aquifer that provide clean drinking water, a home to wildlife, and miles of opportunities for recreation and enjoyment. The need for your support remains as well.

If you can, please make a special gift to PRWC now to have your gift more than doubled. Every gift at any level really helps! Your gift now enables PRWC to:

  • Advance local stream assessment and water quality monitoring efforts in support of Watershed Based Plan implementation, and climate change adaptation and resiliency planning.

  • Engage PRWC Youth Conservation Corps and student interns in projects that help protect our water resources within the Pomperaug River watershed including constructing rain gardens, improving riparian habitat, removing invasive species, mitigating soil erosion, and more;

  • Advocate for recommendations outlined in our Watershed Based Plan specific to river impairments for compliance with federal standards and begin to implement corrective strategies for those impairments;

  • Continue participation in the State Water Plan implementation and Water Planning Council Advisory Group by bringing local issues and concerns to the table;

  • Locally and regionally, advance watershed protection outreach through education and advocacy;

As we look ahead, we celebrate the contributions of our current and past team members as PRWC marks its twentieth year of providing science-based environmental protections and developing innovative and responsible strategies to ensure high quality water for generations. All of PRWC's programs and activities underscore our collective roles as stewards of our environment. The PRWC mission is to promote clean water and sustainable use of water in our watershed, both groundwater and water in the river, by reaching out through education and fostering a science based understanding of the water resources we all depend on.

Thank you so much to all those who have engaged with the stewardship of our rivers and aquifer as these resources provide our communities with life-sustaining water. Most importantly stay safe and well.
