Volunteer Stream Sampling
Wednesday, Sept. 10 & Oct. 8 | 8:30-11:30AM

Join PRWC as we collect stream samples to test for bacteria and nitrate in our local rivers and streams. You will be accompanied by an experienced staff member and will learn how to properly use data recording tools. No experience necessary! Ages 10+. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Macroinvertebrate Survey
Sept. 20 & 21 | 9AM-12PM & 1PM-4PM

Join our staff to explore local streams, search for and identify macroinvertebrates, or "river bugs", and learn what they reveal about stream health. Adults and children over age 10 (with an adult) are invited to participate, no experience needed!

Be sure to swing by our table at Roxbury Land Trust's RiverFest between 1PM and 4PM! At 1PM we'll be leading an interactive macroinvertebrate "river bug" program where you can get a look at some of the Shepaug River's smallest inhabitants and learn what they can tell us about stream health. We'll see you there!
"Paint by the River" Program
Monday, Sept. 29 | 5PM-6PM

Join PRWC and Miss Kate from The Golden Button Arts & Craft Studio for a relaxing evening of creativity by the Pomperaug River. Together, we’ll enjoy the beauty of the riverside as Miss Kate guides you step-by-step in creating your very own painting of the river to take home. All materials, including paints, canvas, and easel will be provided. Open to adults and children. $40 per participant.

Join PRWC and the CT State Water Planning Council's Outreach and Education Workgroup for a continuation of the Extreme Weather and Our Watershed Webinar Series 2025. This virtual workshop will focus on flooding and the impact of flooding on the water quality of both surface and groundwater drinking water supplies. Registration is required.

This virtual workshop will center on drought and its impacts on drinking water supply quality, including challenges with algal blooms and cyanobacteria. Registration is required.

Enjoy the beauty of Connecticut's most dazzling season from the serene waters of Long Meadow Pond in Bethlehem! This leisurely guided paddle will be approximately 2.5 miles in length and suitable for all experience levels. Limited boats and paddles available upon request.
