Join PRWC & the CT Water Planning Council’s Outreach and Education Workgroup for an introductory webinar that explores the basics of watersheds and why they matter to the future of water management in CT.
Winter Salt Sampling

Learn about the impacts of excessive road salt use on humans and aquatic life and help us test local streams for sodium chloride (road salt) pollution. You will be accompanied by an experienced staff member and will learn how to properly use data recording tools. No experience necessary! Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

A World Water Day Event

Learn where your drinking water comes from, how
to care for your well and septic system, and what to know about PFAS and other emerging contaminants. You’ll also be able to explore treatment options for common well issues. Local well and septic professionals, utility reps, and public health experts will be on hand to answer all your questions.
Vernal Pool-ooza

Amphibian Adventure

Join PRWC and Southbury Parks and Rec for an Amphibian Adventure! Take a guided walk through Settlers Park at dusk to discover what critters are on the move this spring. As the sun sets, frogs, toads, and salamanders will emerge, giving us a chance to spot them and hear their distinct calls.
Give Local 2026

Join us in celebrating the 14th annual Give Local campaign! This 36-hour online campaign unites donors, businesses, and local charities to provide much-needed support for our community. Our giving day will be open for business beginning on Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 a.m. and ending on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:00 p.m.!
Volunteer Stream Sampling
Wednesdays, April-Oct. | 8:30-11:30AM

Join us to test for bacteria and nitrate pollution in local rivers and streams. You will be accompanied by an experienced staff member and will learn how to properly use data recording tools. No experience necessary! Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult
Streamside Stewardship Days
Multiple Dates/Times, April & May 2026

Use your gardening skills to help care for your local waterways this spring! Join us for a Streamside Stewardship Day as we remove invasive weeds along streambanks and make room for native plants that help keep our rivers healthy. Gardening gloves and tools will be provided. Recommended for ages 14+.
Stream Temperature Monitoring
Thurs. May 14 | 5-7PM & Wed. May 20 | 9AM-12PM

Head into the watershed with us to install temperature data loggers in nearby streams. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work alongside our staff and take part in efforts to protect cold-water habitat for trout and other local wildlife. No experience necessary! Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
