Pomperaug Watershed Treasure Hunt Team Challenge Announced

Woodbury Earth Day, presented by Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition (PRWC), is excited to announce a twist on the classic scavenger hunt game. In the Watershed Treasure Hunt, participants will receive clues leading them to natural and historic “treasures” of the Pomperaug Watershed. The clues will take participants to scenic views of the beautiful rivers and streams as well as to interesting landmarks within Woodbury, Southbury, Bethlehem, Watertown, Washington, and Roxbury, towns that make up the Pomperaug Watershed.

“We encourage you to get outside and enjoy the beauty of spring in northwestern Connecticut. Hop in a car with your team and challenge your friends to the Pomperaug Watershed Treasure Hunt! By solving the clues, you and your team will track down lots of insta-worthy natural wonders and historic locations. Bonus points are available for sharing photos and social media posts, so click away.” said Hailey McKeever, PRWC Outreach Coordinator.

Participants can register themselves or a team for $25 on Woodbury Earth Day’s website. Pre-registration for the Treasure Hunt is open now and clues will be released to teams beginning on April 15. Answers to the clues will be submitted through an online form.

Those that complete the clues and submit their answers by May 9, will have the opportunity to win one of six prize baskets featuring donations from Daffodil Hill Growers, The Farm, Livin’ Country, Earth Tones Native Plant Nursery and Landscaping, Litchfield Distillery, New Morning Market, UCONN Kids, and PRWC. Some clues may be more difficult than others and will be worth more points. The more points collected from answering the treasure hunt clues, the more likely a team is to win a prize basket. The six highest scoring participating teams will win a prize basket. If participant team scores are tied, the earliest submission will win. All teams that submit their completed form by the deadline will be entered for a chance to win a PRWC Swag Package. Winners will be announced on May 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM.

In addition to the Watershed Treasure Hunt, the Woodbury Earth Day festivities will feature a mix of virtual and in-person opportunities throughout April . Virtual and self-guided offerings will include engaging educational programs and environmental stewardship opportunities PRWC’s online series of “Water Wednesdays” will cover topics including drinking water, river health, and fish with programs for both adults and children each week.
