Every year, just as we celebrate Earth Day on April 22 we celebrate World Water Day on March 22. This year, we are pleased to highlight two special programs aligned with this global celebration of water.

First up, we invite you to join the Water Planning Council's Outreach and Education Workgroup (of which PRWC is a member) for our first workshop in the 2026 Webinar Series: Realizing Resilient Watersheds to be held on Friday March 20, 2026 from 12-1 pm. This is being held in connection with World Water Day who's theme this year is Where Water Flows, Equality Grows. This webinar, entitled Watersheds 101, will provide an overview of watersheds in Connecticut and their management by CT Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection staff. Free to attend but registration required. Register here

Next up is the WaTer You Drinking? A World Water Day Event we are co-hosting with Sustainable Southbury and the Southbury Public Library. Join us in person to learn where your drinking water comes from, how to care for your well and septic system, and what to know about TCE, PFAS, and other emerging contaminants. You’ll also be able to explore treatment options for common well issues.

Local well and septic professionals, utility representatives, and public health experts will be on hand to answer all your water questions. Families can also stop by our kids craft corner, featuring water-themed activities for children of all ages. Let’s make a splash for clean water in our community!

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. Please visit the library's webpage to register.
