We are excited to welcome our 2025 Dr. Marc Taylor Interns, Erin Classey and Nora Kliczewski to our team!
Erin, from Woodbury, is a rising senior at the University of New Hampshire, dual majoring in Environmental Science and Sustainability, and minoring in Outdoor Recreation Management and Policy. She is extremely passionate about living sustainably and protecting nature. In her free time, Erin likes to spend her time outdoors by hiking, running, and being active. Erin is incredibly excited to learn from the PRWC in a hands-on workspace surrounded by other individuals that are passionate about the environment.
Nora, a Newtown-native, is a rising Senior at Union college where she studies Environmental Science, Climate Change Studies, and English. Nora has completed an Independent Study, and is continuing the work for her Senior Thesis, where she studied stream health across the west coast of Connecticut. In her free time Nora likes to spend time outside, especially reading and spending time with her family. Nora is excited to work with PRWC and learn more about the long term effects of taking care of a watershed.
Erin and Nora are working on a number of projects with us this summer including stream temperature data analysis, aquatic invasive species removal, stream sampling, community education, and more!
This summer marks the twelfth season we have welcome students to our prestigious Dr. Marc Taylor Summer Internship Program. We started out with just one intern a summer, but added a second position first in 2020 and again in 2022 when it was necessary for field work safety and completing high priority monitoring and conservation projects throughout the watershed. With Erin and Nora included, we will have mentored 18 college students on their way to becoming environmental professionals that we now work with as colleagues today! You can find our interns working for employers that include but are not limited to: SLR Consulting, Norwalk Second Water District, Tighe & Bond, Woodard & Curran, Triumvirate Environmental, Success Academy Charter Schools, and Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research.
