Woodbury Earth Day Festival Returns in 2022

WOODBURY- Woodbury Earth Day will make its return in 2022 after a two year hiatus attributed to the COVID pandemic. This year’s festival, which marks the 27th “annual” celebration of Earth Day in Woodbury will take place on Saturday April 30th 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hollow Park. The event is presented by Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, a Woodbury-based environmental non-profit committed to protecting local water resources.

Last year, PRWC offered a scaled back version of Earth Day where the emphasis was placed on educational programs and workshops. This year, Woodbury Earth Day Festival will be returning with vendors and exhibitors as in previous years, along with earth-friendly activities for the whole family and a selection of food trucks. In addition to the vendor fair, educational workshops and programs such as a Composting Workshop, a Tree ID Walk, and River Exploration activity will be available for families. Admission to the event is free; there is, however, a $5 parking fee per car at the event. Folks are encouraged to carpool, bike, or walk to the event.

PRWC is accepting vendor and exhibitor applications through March 25, 2022. Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition is also seeking sponsors for the event and volunteers to assist in the set up, break down, and operation of the festival. Interested applicants, sponsors volunteers should visit www.woodburyearthday.org and email earthday@pomperaug.org with any questions.

Event proceeds will support PRWC’s stream monitoring program, watershed restoration projects, and implementation of the recently adopted Watershed Based Plan. To learn more about Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, visit www.pomperaug.org.
