Volunteer Stream Sampling

Join us to test for bacteria and nitrate pollution in local rivers and streams. You will be accompanied by an experienced staff member and will learn how to properly use data recording tools. No experience necessary! Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult
Vernal Pool-ooza

Join PRWC and Roxbury Land Trust at the Baldwin Preserve for an exciting adventure exploring vernal pools! Discover how to identify these unique habitats, look for frogs, toads, and salamanders, and uncover the vital role vernal pools play in our local ecosystem.
Streamside Stewardship Days
Multiple Dates/Times, April & May 2026
Use your gardening skills to help care for your local waterways this spring! Join us for a Streamside Stewardship Day as we remove invasive weeds along streambanks and make room for native plants that help keep our rivers healthy. Gardening gloves and tools will be provided. Recommended for ages 14+.
Amphibian Adventure

Join PRWC and Southbury Parks and Rec for an Amphibian Adventure! Take a guided walk through Settlers Park at dusk to discover what critters are on the move this spring. As the sun sets, frogs, toads, and salamanders will emerge, giving us a chance to spot them and hear their distinct calls.
Give Local 2026

Give Local is a 36-hour online give-a-thon hosted by Connecticut Community Foundation that brings the region together to raise money and awareness for the vital work of local nonprofits. Want your donation to Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition to go further? Please donate during GIVE LOCAL! Your gift will help us earn bonus funds, become eligible for cash prizes, and leverage matching funds.
Learn-to-Fish Program
Tues. April 28 | 4:30-7:00pm
Join us for a fishing adventure at Southford Falls with DEEP’s "Fish with CARE" program. This event is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills. You will be provided with loaner tackle, bait, and expert instruction from experienced fishing coaches. Open to adults and children 6+ (youth 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult; anglers 16+ need a CT fishing license). Registration required!
Stream Temperature Monitoring
Thurs. May 14 | 5-7PM & Wed. May 20 | 9AM-12PM
Head into the watershed with us to install temperature data loggers in nearby streams. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work alongside our staff and take part in efforts to protect cold-water habitat for trout and other local wildlife. No experience necessary! Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
