Aquarion Announces 2015 Awards for Environmental Excellence

Aquarion Water Company celebrates fifth anniversary of its awards program, and it is again seeking adults, students, small and large businesses, and non-profits whose volunteer efforts have protected or improved Connecticut’s natural resources – its air, water, soils or plant and wildlife communities.

The company will name winners of its Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards in five categories: Adult, Student, Small Business, Large Business and Non-Profit Organization.

“Each year, we are seeing more and more outstanding projects enter the Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards that not only help preserve our state’s environment, but also deliver impactful results,” said Charles V. Firlotte, President and CEO of Aquarion Water Company. “Now entering our fifth year, we are excited by the prospect of this year’s nominees and look forward to celebrating the people, companies and non-profit organizations behind these worthy efforts.”

Awards will include a $1000 award for the student winner and $2500 contributions to environmental non-profit organizations selected by the other category winners. Aquarion will honor winners on June 6, 2015 at a special event to be held at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport. Participating in the awards ceremony will be U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and other dignitaries.

The deadline for nominations is May 6, 2015. Self-nominations and renominations are welcome.
