PRWC is accepting applications from undergraduate and graduate students pursuing environmental careers for its Dr. Marc Taylor Internship position. This prestigious environmental student internship was established in 2013 in memory of PRWC’s cofounder, Dr. Taylor (1937-2012). In addition to stewarding environmental resources at the local, state, and national level, Dr. Taylor was particularly eager to foster the same passion in those preparing to be the stewards of the future.
PRWC is also accepting applications to hire Youth Conservation Corps Members for the 2021 summer season. PRWC’s Youth Conservation Corps work together outdoors for six weeks during the summer on projects that protect and enhance natural resources in the Pomperaug Watershed. A commitment to the environment and to their local communities is essential.
PRWC’s mission is to ensure plentiful high quality water, both groundwater and surface water, in the Pomperaug Watershed communities through the use of science and education. The Youth Conservation Corps will serve as ambassadors of PRWC,
Together, projects worked on by the Youth Conservation Corps and the Dr. Marc Taylor Intern will protect and enhance natural resources in the Pomperaug Watershed communities. YCC projects may include but are not limited to water quality sampling, streamwalk surveys, river clean-ups, riparian habitat improvement, invasive species removal, erosion mitigation, stormdrain marker installation, culvert assessments and more.
